How much does boat insurance cost?
Nobody can honestly quote you a number before seeing your boat. The type and value of the boat, the horsepower, whether you run the Ohio or the Kanawha, your boating experience and the coverage you choose all go into the price, and each company weighs them its own way. That is exactly why we quote you with every company that fits, then recommend the one that works best for you.
Is boat insurance required in West Virginia?
Not by state law. If you finance the boat or keep it at a marina, the lender or marina will require it. Without it, you pay yourself for any damage or injuries your boat causes.
Doesn’t my homeowners policy cover my boat?
Barely. Home policies cover only small boats with small motors, and only up to a low dollar limit. A real boat needs its own policy.
What is agreed value vs. actual cash value?
Agreed value pays the full insured amount if the boat is totaled, with nothing taken off for age. Actual cash value pays what the boat is worth on the day of the loss. Agreed value costs a little more, and we go over which one fits your boat when we quote.
Is my trailer covered?
Most boat policies cover the trailer. We confirm yours does, and that the limit fits what the trailer is worth.
Can you quote Progressive and Nationwide?
Yes. We work with both, along with Liberty Mutual, Foremost, American Modern, and Chubb. Bring any online quote you already have and we check it against the rest.
