Claims
Report the accident to Forge right away, regardless of fault. Move the vehicles out of traffic if you safely can, call the police even for a minor accident, photograph the scene, and get names and information from the other driver, any passengers, and any witnesses.
About Forge
Forge writes commercial auto and nothing else. It splits the book two ways: vehicles where driving is the business, like taxis, limousines, black car, and non-emergency medical transport, and vehicles that are a tool of some other business, like a contractor’s pickup, an HVAC van, or a food truck.
The company started in 1938 as Amalgamated Casualty, a mutual insuring taxi drivers in Washington, DC. It stayed close to that book for decades, opened up to more states and vehicle classes in 2011, and took the Forge name in 2022 after converting from a mutual to a stock company.
Where Forge tends to fit
Forge tends to fit small operators whose vehicles are the business or are central to it: livery and non-emergency medical transport, a contractor with a few trucks, a food truck. It is a monoline commercial auto market, so the rest of your business insurance goes elsewhere. If your situation is more complicated, we represent companies that specialize in it.
