About Glatfelter & VFIS
Glatfelter is not an insurance company. It is a program administrator in York, Pennsylvania, that designs and underwrites specialty programs and places them with the insurance companies behind them. Arthur Glatfelter started the agency at his kitchen table in 1951.
Two of its programs are the ones we use. VFIS has insured fire departments and ambulance services since 1969, when Glatfelter took on a volunteer fire department as a client and found that nobody was writing them properly. Glatfelter Public Entities covers municipalities, counties, public service districts, and schools.
