Photograph the piece and the surrounding conditions before it is moved, and have the appraisal or purchase records ready. Values move on this kind of property, so keep the appraisals current between claims rather than after one.
About HTB
Huntington T. Block is the oldest and largest fine art insurance broker in the country. It was founded in 1962 and has been part of Aon since 1991, and it wrote the original all-risk, wall-to-wall fine art policy that the rest of the market copied.
It covers museums, commercial galleries, private collectors, auction houses, artists, antique dealers, art consultants, conservators, and the shippers and packers who move the work. It also administers a directors and officers program for museums that the American Alliance of Museums has endorsed since 1982. Musical instruments are covered as well, which matters more here than art usually does.
